I picked out a great stock logo photo from a fantastic logo-making website and lo and behold a few days later find another business, a school, not too many miles away from me already using that same stock photo except their colors were changed. It's an inexpensive way to get your brand up and going but not the best way to create a unique identity.
So, I instead tried my hand at Pixelmator, an app I bought from the Apple Store onto my Mac. In about 10 minutes I had tweaked a shape in Pixelmator and, voi-la, I had created the original logo I had imagined when I originally started browsing the logo-making website.
